ROLE DETAILS
PURPOSE OF ROLE
To assist the Egypt finance team to meet its principal duties according to applicable Joint Operating Agreements, Production Sharing Contract, accounting standards, sales agreements, and management expectations.
Responsible for the day-to-day accounting processes for all agreed non-operated assets, including revenue accounting for producing assets (Sales, Excess Cost Recovery and Tax Barrels Gross Up).
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Accounting, Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting:
- Review, booking and reconciliation of non-operated billings and cash calls.
- Responsible for the assurance, reconciliation and follow up of sales invoicing and revenue accounting for producing assets
- Responsible for accurate accounting of hydrocarbon production including stock and over/underlift for producing assets
- Engage in the hydrocarbon production review process based on data received from non -operated partners
- Responsible for the preparation, reconciliation and follow up of sales invoicing and revenue accounting for producing assets.
- Responsible for the overall preparation and reconciliation of the monthly accounts of the asset operations.
- Ensure compliance with the financial requirements of the Licenses, Joint Operating Agreements and other relevant agreements or legislation as required.
- Participate in the monthly close, posting journals and maintaining the Joint Venture gross and net financial records and reconciliations of such accounts including working capital.
- Be the focal point in communications with the Operator regarding any requirements relates to billing statements, production reports or revenue.
- Prepare responses (for review with Line Manager) to Partners and Government queries on Authorizations for Expenditures (AFEs), billings, and Production Sharing Contract (PSC) reports (if applicable).
- Responsible for Budgeting and Reporting for the non-operated assets, preparing internal and external reports (routine and non-routine) to understand / communicate any variances, forecast updates and any required analysis reports.
Audit and compliance:
- To participate in any Joint Venture Audits in non-operated or operated Assets and support the Lead Auditor with the required information requests.
- Provide assistance and back up for audits as required.
- Provide analysis for the non-operated billing statements against budgets and monitor the cost recovery position for individual assets and issue regular summary reports highlighting any potential issues.
- Prepare summary of compliance requirements and develop checklists for all responsible assets there from, to ensure compliance.
- To participate in any Materials or Crude Oil Inventory physical count or inspections.
- Contribute towards overall improvement of the accounting processes.
- Provide guidance to other finance team members where appropriate and transfer the knowledge to the less experienced team members.
- Provide cover for other members of the Finance team, as required.
- Ad hoc tasks within the department as required.
Please note: this role may involve a limited amount of local and international travel.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
Education:
- University degree - finance related discipline - required.
- Accounting qualification (CA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) - preferred
Relevant Experience - Industry/ Business:
- Relevant experience working in Upstream oil and gas environment (required)
- JV accounting knowledge and experience (required)
- Good understanding of business drivers and processes to report in a timely, efficient, and effective manner to management so that appropriate decisions / actions can be taken (required)
- The successful candidate must be able to adapt to fluctuating workloads during peak periods and be willing to take on additional tasks beyond day-to-day responsibilities.
- The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills and demonstrate the ability to sense check financial statements, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of numbers.
