ROLE DETAILS
PURPOSE OF ROLE

Production Manager based in Cairo to co-ordinate technical work performed by Capricorn technical teams based in Cairo & Edinburgh and interface daily with the Operator on production operations.

The role will lead the production and development team in Cairo and help ensure delivery of the planned production through monitoring development drilling, well interventions and facility optimisation within the non-operated Obaiyed, BED, NEAG and AESW concessions.

The role involves assimilating, assessing and interpreting large quantities of production and well information and working with the subsurface teams to determine the impact on production rates, reserves and investment plans for the fields.

The Production Manager will be Capricorn’s TCM representative for all JV production meetings, which will require liaising with the Egypt MD, COO / Technical Director to ensure a clear mandate on Capricorn’s position and voting.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Producing Assets:
  • Provide oversight and analyse production and injection, well allocations, voidage and sweep/recovery efficiency within producing fields.
  • Generate and manage production forecasts and recovery estimates using appropriate reservoir engineering techniques (decline-curve analysis, analytical, material balance & analogues etc).
  • Review and monitor. Prepare technical evaluations for higher-cost opportunities.
  • Track and monitor cost and schedule forecasts for all drilling, work-over and well intervention activity. Work with Operator to optimise the drilling schedule to maximise value to Capricorn.
  • Liaise the Production Geologist and Reservoir Engineer based in Edinburgh to identify intervention opportunities to improve production and injection (to complement work performed by the Operator).
  • Review reservoir surveillance plans and identify additional reservoir management requirements. Develop business case for filling critical data gaps.
  • Evaluate incremental recovery opportunities from modifying reservoir management practices considering risk and economic return.
Corporate Activities:
  • Manage reserve estimates for the Egyptian assets, in accordance with company guidelines and SPE PRMS system. Ensure consistency between reserves/resources plus associated production/cost profiles and well/facilities work plans.
  • Provide oversight of production, reservoir and facilities engineering and cost inputs for commercial/finance evaluations, including Reserve Based Lending (RBL) discussions with Technical Banks.
  • Generate scenarios and provide data to feed Capricorn’s corporate reporting and business planning processes.
Education /experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum/Chemical/Mining/Mechanical Engineering In-country qualification on labour law.
  • Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering preferred
Relevant skills / experience
Technical
  • Broad Reservoir Engineering background within an upstream E&P company, preferably with an operator of mature, onshore producing assets in Egypt.
  • Ability to analyse large volumes of production and injection data using Oil Field Manager (OFM) or equivalent.
  • Experience implementing and/or managing water injection projects.
  • Experience of wellsite activities including drilling, completion, testing, stimulation and artificial lift.
  • Competent and experienced user of Petroleum Experts suite (IPM suite) for modelling complex multi-field scenarios.
  • Experience using well test interpretation software (Kappa/PanSystem).
Other Competencies
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
  • Ability to lead, inspire and coach a team of direct and indirect reports to generate ideas for increasing production, reduce costs and deliver agreed production targets.
  • Strong commercial and economic evaluation understanding (including the importance of cost recovery under PSCs) along with the ability to communicate clearly with senior management and external parties.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised and exercise initiative to solve complex problems and be able to handle multiple tasks and balance level of detail according to the business impact and priority.
  • Have worked in a non-operated capacity previously and demonstrated an ability to influence and shape an Operator’s investment plans in a clear and constructive manner.
